The XJR is powered by the supercharged version of the 4.0 L V8. It is also equipped with sport suspension, wider wheels and tires, and matte-black exterior window trim. Like the Sport model, the XJR has a body-coloured radiator grille surround, but with a stainless-steel mesh insert rather than the normal vanes. Other exterior touches include the “XJR” rear badging and larger exhaust outlets.

In 2001, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Sir William Lyons’ birth, Jaguar produced five hundred examples of a special-edition model named the “XJR 100″ of which 82 made it to the UK. Only available in the Anthracite exterior color with charcoal leather upholstery, the interior is trimmed with contrasting red stitching and birdseye maple. It is fitted with a leather-covered sports steering wheel and a MOMO shift knob. The XJR 100 uses the Brembo brakes otherwise found on the R1-equipped XJR, plus 19” “Montreal”-style wheels manufactured by BBS.

Individual Anthracite Paint, Warm Charcoal Leather, R Leather steering wheel, Momo gear knob, Gray stained Bird’s eye maple veneer, XJR 100 sill caps, Sat Nav, 9 speaker Alpine Audio system, 6 disc changer, GSM phone, Auto-dimming rearview mirror, Rain-sensing wipers, Parking sensors, Cruise control, Heated Electric seats, Montreal BBS wheels, Brembo braking system

This XJR Anniversary model is presented in the unique Anthracite metallic bodywork. Walking around the car, the paintwork is in notably fine condition with very few stone chips; proudly boasting a beautifully deep shine with a sharp metallic flake.

All the panels still line up perfectly and remain free from any corrosion whilst the chrome trim, to be found on the bumpers is in excellent condition with no pitting or unsightly dents.

The iconic shape of the X308 is arguably presented in it’s best form here with a menacing manevolence. The dark shadow line trim and chrome tail pipe finishers providing a telling indication of performance on offer.

In typical Jaguar fashion the interior space is a smart affair with acres of leather and gray stained veneer finished with bright work to sills, door handles and speaker surrounds. The 12 way adjustable seats present with a matte effect showing very little bolster wear with red double stitching clean and tight with no fraying or distortion. The stitching continues throughout providing an elegant map line throughout the cabin space. Mats are clean and tidy whilst Jaguar embroidered mats exhibit good fit and finish.

The generous specification extends to a standard GPS nav system, a very clean-sounding nine-speaker audio system with six-disc changer, dual-band phone, auto-dimming rearview mirror, rain-sensing wipers and reversing sensors.

Presentation is first class whilst performance is quite something with a gutsy wail from the supercharger and a silky baritone growl from the V8.

The J gate gearbox is easy to navigate and provides smooth progress through the layers of torque available.

The unmarked Montreal-edition BBS wheels offset the menacing bodywork; wrapped in correct Pirelli P Zero rubber with ample tread remaining.

Silver Brembo calipers pop through the spokes and are in terrific condition clamping pads and discs that show plenty of life.

This XJ was first registered by Merritts Jaguar of Amersham in March of 2002.

The supplying dealer would service the car every year up to 2006 before Jaguar Hadley Green would assume duties for the next 5 service entries. Marque specialist Arun would bring servicing right up-to-date with a stamp in the book at 54k miles in the summer of ’17.

The owners wallet is complete with all books, the spare key present and correct and there is a sheath of invoices beyond normal servicing for miscellaneous parts to keep this wonderful X308 in tip top condition.
